Metro 2033 : Redux Review

These two games on one disc, with all the dlc and tons of extra content. Metro 2033 Redux- This game has never been released on a Sony platform until now and has been rebuilt using the same engine as Metro Last Light. This means that you no longer have to deal with bad control schemes and textures/characters/lighting/control mechanics and inventory have been rebuilt like last light as well. You get two modes of play, Spartan or Survival. Both are very different and give plenty of reasons to replay the campaign. Ranger mode is also now on 2033 for that extra challenge. To see one of my favorite underrated games (Metro 2033) giving such much needed tune ups, I needed no excuse to replay its campaign through twice and plan for a third. You cannot get this kind of tangible atmosphere in a game anywhere else. (Except The Last of Us) The metro becomes such a believable scenario and location had nuclear apocalypse happen. I am happy to say that all of the improvements to this game are a great fit and do not change the game so much that veterans of the original will not recognize it. Metro Last Light Redux - The sequel also gets some optimizations but they are much less notable due to the game being just released in 2013. On PS4 Last Light now runs at (PC) Very High Specs and damn does it show. I have compared this version to my PS3 version and the differences are night and day. Where the PS3 version would be very dark and hard to see, even when the gamma is turned all the way up, the PS4 version displays the game in perfect saturation of colors and the gamma adjustment has room for tweaks. You will get the same experience as the PS3s version but when this game looks this good and runs at 60fps, you can't help but feel that this game was way to much for the PS3 to handle. This game remains a solid horror shooter and also is fitted with the Spartan or Survival option. I am currently at the end of my first PS4 play through of Last Light and wow, these games are amazing! They both compliment each other and feel like one super sized, adrenaline pumping, spine tingling adventure. Great story, great visuals, amazing audio and too much fun to put down.
